Accountancy Financial Assistance

In 2017, the Department of Accountancy and the College of Business awarded approximately $316,000 to 172 accountancy scholarship winners. NIU offered 224 accountancy students an additional $851,500 in scholarship assistance. All upper-division and M.A.S. accountancy students are automatically considered for scholarships awarded by the accountancy department.

Graduate Assistantships

Approximately 35-40 percent of our M.A.S. (Leadership) and M.S.T. degree-seeking students receive a graduate assistantship. There are two types of assistantships: (1) teaching and (2) research. Students work with accountancy faculty and with other departments and offices on campus.

All assistantships carry a partial tuition waiver. You also receive a monthly stipend. The stipend amount depends on the number of hours worked per week.

Assistantships are not guaranteed. Phase I M.A.S. (Leadership) international students are not considered for assistantships during the first year of the program.

Required Criteria for Consideration

  • Good communication and computer skills.
