Biography

Suzanne Youngberg joined our faculty at Northern Illinois University part-time in 1999. She joined NIU's faculty as a full-time member in 2000 and currently teaches in our accounting graduate and undergraduate programs. Youngberg served as the academic advisor for our NIU Master of Science in taxation program from 2005 to 2022, as well as served multiple times on the accountancy curriculum committee. Prior to coming to NIU, she worked for five years in the tax department of a medium-sized public accounting firm. She also taught for seven years at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois. Youngberg received her Bachelor of Science in accountancy from NIU and her Master of Science in taxation from DePaul University.

Youngberg maintained her own tax practice for 30 years, specializing in individual and small-business compliance, and strategic tax planning. She has served as treasurer for a local nonprofit organization and delivered speeches to various commerce organizations. Youngber has been featured as a guest on several Chicago television stations discussing the child tax credit and the dependent care credit.

Youngberg joined Wiley in 2016 providing support for the REG content of Wiley/CPA Excel, creating task-based simulations from her decades of experience in the field of taxation. She also is the Instructor for Wiley's 11th Hour Product for REG. Youngberg currently is a tax content developer for UWorld's CPA Exam Review product.

Youngberg is currently writing two tax textbooks for Wiley: Fundamentals of Individual Taxation and Taxation of Business Entities. In fall 2021, fall 2022 and spring 2023, she was a speaker for Wiley webinars. Youngberg has presented at the ATA and AAA conferences multiple times. Her publication specialty is in individual taxation, coauthoring several articles for the Journal of Taxation. Youngberg has taught the tax segment for NIU's CPA Review Program as well as providing instruction for continuing professional education for a national public accounting firm.
